For the first unit in the subject of LA, students had to understand the basic concept of what the true meaning of expectation is. By showing the students videos and facts of things that humans never paid full attention, we are able to detect the different perspectives and expectations from different students. The expectations can be identified when it comes to carnivals, events or cities or special places, etc.
When Mr.Wrublik showed us a video about the different kind of wedding from some parts of the world, we were obviously shocked about the outcomes. One of the weddings was from Africa, where it was required to spit on the bride. As you can see that this kind of tradition would be seen as very abnormal and absurd. In the asian regions, spitting on someone is seen as impolite and a disgrace to the society and the environment. However the whole point of us watching this video was to explore and understand that for every situation, event, city, country or anywhere, each of us have a role and we have expectations of the others during the situation, but they have expectations of us too either as a visitor or a sister or a brother etc. Every expectation has its perspective from different roles or people.
Mr. Wrublik as our LA teacher, through information and examples explained us about how we should explain the differences of perspectives and how to identify the expectations. Afterwards we were separated in groups, and after we had our conclusions of the video we watched of the different kind of weddings, we as groups were asked to create a presentation about the expectations of a wedding, the wedding could be from any country. During the process we all struggled a lot since we were trying to differentiate which ones are our expectations and what the people expect of you as a guest. After the presentation we had feedback from Mr. Wrublik and this feedback would help us improve for our Summative assessment that was also based on Expectations.
