Expectation is something that each and every one of us has, whether it is a good expectation or a bad expectation. If you haven’t guessed it, the very first unit we did for English was expectations. What expectations did we exactly go over? Well, everything. From the expectation we have from watching a commercial to expectations that are directed to guests that attend traditional weddings. It all is varied, which made us view each and every subject we discussed from different points of view. This follows one of the characteristics of a CHAMPION, being open-minded.
We had a span of time where we all prepared for the very final task of the unit, the summative assessment. In this summative, we were asked to pick an expectation - either expectations from studying abroad to expectations about attending a fan convention. Right afterwards we agreed on the topics within each group and we finally started on the presentations. We could present it in any way; such as power point presentations, posters, skits or any other ways of presenting that we could come up with. This lasted for quite a while, this was the few weeks where everyone was busy preparing all of their materials, presentations and how they would present.
The day finally came, the day where everyone was assigned to finally present their topic. It was very nerve-wrecking for everyone. We presented them while the rest of the students did a peer evaluation based on the criteria that was provided by our teacher. Each presentation had a time limit of ten minutes. Most groups didn’t reach further than 9 minutes. Overall, we had practiced our researching skills and speaking skills in this unit for LA.
